IMMORTALITY – poetic theater with Magda Catone & Maxim Belciug

Sometimes, words do not tell stories, but open labyrinths. And time does not flow forward, but turns back on itself, showing that death is not the end, but one of the masks of eternity. It is into such a universe that INMORTALIDAD invites us, this extraordinary performance inspired by the work of Jorge Luis Borges, in which theater, music, and dance meet in a poetic experience of great intensity.
Starting from some of the most powerful poems by the Argentine writer, the show recomposes a fascinating world of the marginal neighborhoods of a legendary Buenos Aires, where the duels between knife fighters and gauchos actually speak of honor, values, life, and destiny, and each man seems to carry within him the shadow of all those who lived before him.
Magda Catone, an actress of remarkable expressive power, leads the audience through this labyrinth of stories and symbols, giving voice to the texts with a plasticity that transforms poetry into a living, almost ritualistic act. Alongside her, guitarist Maxim Belciug creates, through live music, a sound space of hypnotic intensity, where echoes of tango, milonga, and South American music meet the meaningful silences of Borges' texts. Inspired by Argentina's musical roots and the freedom of improvisation, the guitar becomes a character in itself, sometimes tender, sometimes unsettling, sometimes incandescent. The young ballerina Brianna Francesca Orezeanu completes, with her dance that transforms into gesture what words only suggest, the poetic architecture of the show, making visible the tensions between life and death, between struggle and tenderness, between the ephemeral and the eternal.
A performance of rare sensitivity, in which the passionate dialogue between voice, guitar, and gesture gives volume to poetry, and silence becomes as expressive as speech, INMORTALIDAD invites the spectator to introspection, placing them before one of Borges' most powerful teachings: immortality is not a privilege, but a burden, and memory can be as terrifying as oblivion. What matters is humanity now, here, among us.
