"The Bat" – Johann Strauss's Masterpiece, at the Sala Palatului on December 21, 2025.
The Sala Palatului will host a special gala event on the eve of the holidays: the famous operetta "The Bat" by Johann Strauss the Younger, a jewel of Viennese music that has captivated generations with its elegance, humor, and refinement.
The performance brings together artists from the Bucharest National Opera and the Iași National Opera, under the baton of Maestro Daniel Jinga.
The tenors will shine on stage:

• Andrei Fermeșanu
• Andrei Apreotesei
About "The Bat"
Considered the absolute masterpiece of the operetta genre, "The Bat" (Die Fledermaus) premiered in Vienna in 1874 and quickly became one of the most beloved creations of Johann Strauss the Younger. With brilliant music, dominated by waltzes, polkas, and ensembles full of vivacity, "The Bat" combines situational comedy with the Viennese refinement of the 19th century.
The plot full of farce and fine humor takes the audience into a world of masked balls, amorous confusions, and the Viennese carnival spirit, offering a spectacular musical and theatrical experience.
An International Tradition
"The Bat" has been, for over a century, a tradition of the great European stages during the winter holidays. In Vienna, Berlin, London, or New York, this operetta is constantly presented around Christmas and New Year, being considered a symbol of joy and celebration through music. The staging at the Sala Palatului continues this beautiful tradition, bringing the festive spirit and elegance of Vienna to the Romanian public.
