Teatrul Elisabeta, Bucuresti
From the Blue Note Jazz Festival in New York to Bucharest, two personalities of contemporary jazz meet on the same stage: Ashley Pezzotti, one of the remarkable voices of the new generation of American jazz, and Sorin Zlat, pianist, composer, and Yamaha Artist, internationally multi-awarded, with a career built on the stages of some of the most prestigious jazz festivals and clubs in Europe, America, and Asia.
Ashley Pezzotti has distinguished herself through vocal expressiveness, refined interpretation, and improvisational naturalness, collaborating throughout her career with renowned artists and ensembles such as Wynton Marsalis, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Arturo Sandoval, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Joey Alexander, etc.. Her style blends the elegance of the great voices of classic jazz with the freshness and freedom of expression of contemporary jazz.
In turn, Sorin Zlat is one of the most appreciated Romanian jazz pianists internationally, winner of The Great American Jazz Piano Competition in Jacksonville, USA, where he became the first pianist from outside the United States to win the Grand Prize. His achievements also include distinctions at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Monaco Jazz Festival, and Getxo Jazz Festival. Throughout his career, he has performed on iconic stages such as Blue Note and Birdland in New York, Ronnie Scott's in London, and at major international festivals.
The artistic collaboration between Ashley Pezzotti and Sorin Zlat began in 2022, during the Blue Note Jazz Festival in New York, and now continues in Romania, through a tour that brings together two complementary musical visions, united by a passion for improvisation, dialogue, and artistic freedom.
On November 4, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM, at the Elisabeta Theatre in Bucharest, the two artists will take the stage alongside Adrian Flautistu on double bass and Iulian Nicolau on drums, appreciated musicians of the Romanian jazz scene, as part of the extraordinary concert "An American Jazz Night".
The show proposes a journey through the universe of American jazz, from standards from the Great American Songbook and swing to Latin jazz, original compositions, and surprising reinterpretations. The repertoire will alternate moments of sensitivity and lyricism with passages of virtuosity, spontaneous improvisations, and energetic musical dialogues.
Sorin Zlat Trio brings a mature and personal musical language, built around the freedom of improvisation, harmonic complexity, and the interaction between instruments, while Ashley Pezzotti complements this experience through the warmth of her timbre, the expressiveness of her interpretation, and the spontaneity of her vocal improvisation.
"An American Jazz Night" is more than a concert: it is a meeting between two musical scenes, the American and the European, a celebration of jazz as a universal language and an invitation to discover the magic of music created in real time, where each performance becomes unique.
