The Ambassador Musical Theatre, through the play "Harap-Alb's Tale", promotes Romanian culture and stories among the young audience. "Harap-Alb's Tale" is a play that brings Creangă's characters to the stage, in a modern vision, through the eyes of today's teenager. Using music, dance, and humor as main tools, we aim to familiarize the new generation of children with Creangă's universe, using familiar references.
The show begins with Horia, a teenager who, like any teenager, has disputes with his father about taking responsibility, and also argues with his best friend, Maria, who reproaches him for his selfishness and for always relying on her to do his homework - this time it's about the Romanian fairy tale itself, a reference subject in Romanian Language and Literature.
But who needs such stories today? Do we still have anything to learn from them? With such questions, Horia starts playing "De-a Harap Alb" (Playing Prince Charming) and, through the role of the protagonist, enters a story on the border between dream and reality. He embarks on an initiatory journey at the end of which he will acquire values such as: taking responsibility, patience, generosity, courage, forgiveness. The show proposes a new formula for re-acquainting with the local heroes who have intersected generations, but this new adaptation aims to reframe the poetry, humor, and essence of Creangă's story, within the metric of today's effervescent, impatient, curious, and always novelty-seeking adolescence.
Although the essence of Creangă's story remains intact, the approach of using current language is the key through which exactly those values are extracted that today's youth can access as resources for personal development.
Recommended minimum age: 5 years This show is a production of the Ambasadorii Musical Theatre, the only theatre for children and youth under the tutelage of the Ministry of Culture.
