"Don Quixote" - passion, adventure and dance on the Constanta stage
The National Opera and Ballet Theatre „Oleg Danovski” Constanța continues the 2026-2027 season with one of the most spectacular titles of the universal choreographic repertoire: „Don Quixote”, with music by Ludwig Minkus, a performance in which the virtuosity of dance, stage energy, and the love story meet in a universe full of color and temperament.
The performance will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 18:30, on the stage of the Trade Union Culture House in Constanța, offering the public an immersion into the vibrant atmosphere of Spain, through one of the most beloved ballets of the classical repertoire.
Inspired by the famous novel by Miguel de Cervantes, the ballet "Don Quixote" follows the spirited story of young Kitri and Basilio, two lovers determined to defend their love against obstacles and the plans of those around them.
The music by Ludwig Minkus, one of the emblematic creations of the classical ballet repertoire, brilliantly supports the dynamic of the performance, from moments of great virtuosity to scenes full of humor, grace, and passion. Rhythms inspired by Spanish dances, spectacular variations, and energetic ensembles transform "Don Quixote" into a true celebration of dance.
The cast of the performance brings together the ballet artists of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre "Oleg Danovski" Constanța: Cătălina Iliescu, Adrian Mihaiu, Ioana Crețu, Bogdan, Bîrsănescu, Oana Dincă, Andreea Gabor and Petronela Iordache.
The presentation of the ballet "Don Quixote" is part of the endeavor of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre "Oleg Danovski" Constanța to keep the great creations of classical ballet in its repertoire and to offer them to the Constanța public in an interpretation full of vitality and sensitivity.
