EASTER CONCERT - Sacred Music from All Times
Soprano Mediana Vlad, doctor of music, and pianist Andreea Dobia, doctor of music, along with their distinguished guests: the Radio Boys' Choir - conductor Liviu Ofițeru, tenor Oliver Popa (London), soprano Mihaela Teodorescu, baritone Cătălin Petrescu and soprano Beatrice Crăciun, await you with great joy and reverence at an exceptional Easter musical event.
The program proposes a musical itinerary that highlights the continuity of the sacred tradition in Western creation, bringing together arias and duets from oratorios, cantatas and masses, in an interpretative arc that combines, in the first part of the evening, liturgical expression with the concertante refinement of composers A. Vivaldi, J. S. Bach, W.A. Mozart, G.F. Handel, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, G. Faure, C. Franck, A.L. Webber, M. Jora. The chosen repertoire explores the spirituality of sacred music throughout the stylistic epochs, in a sound journey marked by reflection, solemnity and joy.
The second part proposes an affective and stylistic conversion, directing the musical discourse towards gospel, negro spirituals and sacred hymns of the 19th and 20th centuries, such as: Amazing Grace, Take Me to the Water, The Old Rugged Cross, You Raise Me Up, Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, Joyful, Joyful, I sing because I’m happy and others. In this sound universe, the vocal timbre, phrasing and pianistic dialogue will highlight the community dimension, spiritual resilience and the profoundly human capacity of music to restore hope.
A special moment of the evening is the participation of the angelic voices of the children from the Radio Boys' Choir, integrated into a scenic and choreographic concept inspired by the Afro-American gospel tradition, which brings a moment of light and artistic freshness.
The event will also include unique moments, in which the established artists of the "Ion Dacian" National Operetta and Musical Theater: Cătălin Petrescu and Mediana Vlad will perform alongside their own children, David Petrescu, respectively Timeea & Dezias Vlad-Oprea, in a celebration of artistic continuity and the dialogue between generations.
It will be an evening in which interpretative rigor will intertwine with authentic emotion, offering you, distinguished audience, a profound, unique and memorable sound experience!
